We are looking for exceptionally motivated graduate students who are interested in research in theoretical biological physics. We develop and apply methods of theoretical physics -- in particular, statistical mechanics -- to study biological processes. Areas of interest include single-molecule biophysics, organization and dynamics of the genome, virus-cell fusion. Extensive prior knowledge of biology is not required for joining our group, but a strong background in physics and proficiency in mathematical methods, as well as passion for research, are essential. The best way to get a more detailed idea about our research is to look at our recent publications. Prospective graduate students should apply to the graduate program at UC San Diego and are welcome to contact Prof. Dudko by email once they have done so.
Post-doctoral positions are available for researchers with background in theoretical physics, who have genuine interest in biological questions. Applicants are welcome to send a cover letter and a CV, and arrange for three letters of reference to be sent to Prof. Olga Dudko.
